The AK-74 (or “Kalashnikov automatic rifle model 1974”) is a Russian assault rifle developed by the famed Russian General and firearms designer Mikhail Kalashnikov in the 1970’s. The rifle first saw service with Soviet forces in Afghanistan in 1979. The AK-74 is still used by most former USSR and Soviet Block countries.
